Gregory– Aurora A. Flores, age 81, passed away on July 25, 2025.

Aurora was born on June 17, 1944, in Gregory, Texas, to Julia (Sylvas) and Juan Avila. She lived her life guided by her strong Catholic faith, which she lovingly passed on to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren—and even great-great-grandchildren. She embodied compassion, kindness, and the golden rule: treating others as she wished to be treated.

A devoted mother, grandmother, and matriarch, Aurora delighted in making children’s clothes, solving puzzles, playing Scrabble and other word games, and nurturing her plants. She was an enthusiastic fan of the Texas Rangers, often gathering her family around to catch a game and share stories. Aurora was known for her gentle spirit—she never spoke ill of another person, and her warm presence left everyone she met feeling seen and loved.

Aurora was preceded in death by her parents: Juan and Julia Avila.

She is survived by her loving husband: Juan Flores from Gregory, Texas; daughters: Veronica Ochoa from Oklahoma, Mari Cruz Solis (Henry) from Portland, Texas, Denise Villarreal from Gregory, Texas, Jennifer Fernandez (Jorge) from Ingleside, Texas, and Sandra Ramirez (Adam from Mico, Texas; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; brother: Ezequiel Avila (Sylvia) from Harlingen, Texas; and sisters: Odelia Avila Rosales and Reyna Hernandez both from Gregory, Texas.

Visitation will begin Wednesday, July 30, 2025, 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at the Immaculate Conception Church, Gregory. The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be the same morning, 11:00 AM, with Funeral Mass being celebrated at 11:30 AM. The burial will follow in Palms Memorial Garden Cemetery, Taft.
