Portland – Bernard “Bernie” Charles Eikel passed away peacefully January 20, 2020. He was 82.

Bernie was born on May 20, 1937 in New Braunfels, Texas to Oliver and Laura (Ludwig) Eikel. He was a resident of Portland, Texas since 1970. Bernie proudly served in The United States Army. He graduated from the University of Texas and was employed by the Texas Railroad Commission for 40 years. Bernie will be missed by all who knew him.

Preceding in death are his parents: Oliver and Laura Eikel; brothers: Oliver Eikel, Warren Eikel and Harvey Eikel.

Survivors include his son: Robert Eikel (Brandy) of Fairview, Texas; daughter: Laura Thompson (Wayne) of Portland, Texas; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren.

All services will be private.
