Blas G. Hernandez

Taft – Blas G. Hernandez passed away peacefully on March 8, 2024 with his family at his side. He was 84.

Blas was born November 29, 1939 in Aransas Pass, Texas to Lucia (Gonzalez) and Amador Hernandez. He was a lifelong resident of Taft, Texas. Blas worked as a sandblaster for several monument companies. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will missed by everyone who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Amador and Lucia Hernandez; siblings: Patricio Hernandez, Joe Hernandez, Juanita Nunez, Pauline Jones and Carmen Garcia.

Survivors include his loving wife: Trinidad C. Hernandez from Taft, Texas; son: Anthony Hernandez from Taft, Texas; daughters: Rachel A. Hernandez (Rene Alaniz) from Corpus Christi, Texas and Belinda Gutierrez (Salvador Sr.) from Portland, Texas; 8 grandchildren: Mark Hernandez, Jeremy Hernandez (Franny), Jazel Gutierrez and Salvador Gutierrez, Jr all from Portland, Texas, Anthony Hernandez (Brittany) and Joseph Hernandez both from Taft, Texas, Christopher Hernandez (Sarah) from Corpus Christi, Texas and Olivia Diaz (Fernando) from Houston, Texas; 7 great-grandchildren; sisters: Teresa De Leon from Kansas City, Kansas, Irma Jones from Corpus Christi, Texas, Josie Carrion (Santos) from Robstown, Texas and Irene McCullough (Wesley) from Ingleside, Texas.

Pallbearers will be: Mark Hernandez, Jeremy Hernandez, Anthony Hernandez, Jr., Christopher Hernandez, Joseph Hernandez and Freddy Garza.

Visitation will begin Thursday, March 14, 2024, 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel, Sinton. A Holy Rosary will be recited the same evening, 7:00 PM at the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, March 15, 2024, 10:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Church in Taft. Interment will follow in San Antonio Cemetery, Aransas Pass.
