Carlos J. Gomez

Taft – Carlos J. Gomez passed away September 5, 2021. He was 51.

Carlos was born on February 23, 1970 in Los Angeles, California to Maria del Carmen (Gonzalez) and Joel Gomez. He was a resident of Taft for 31 years, and former resident of Corpus Christi. Carlos was employed by Taqueria Jalisco in Corpus Christi as the night Manager. His regular customers enjoyed visiting with him at the restaurant. His smile was welcoming and his personality drew people in. Carlos was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will be missed by everyone who knew him.

Carlos is preceded in death by his father: Joel Gomez; sister: Elizabeth Reyes; and in-laws: Cayetano and Nilda Nieto.

Survivors include his wife: Anna Maria Gomez from Taft, Texas; 2 sons: Ramon Nieto, III from Taft, Texas, Carlos J. Gomez, Jr. (Jozelle Rodriguez) from Mathis, Texas and Gabriel Garcia (Kira); 2 daughters: Carly Nieto (Isabel Hernandez) from San Antonio, Texas and Carmen Elizabeth Gomez from Taft, Texas; 4 grandchildren: Jordan A. Martinez, Lincoln N. Martinez, Camilia Jo Gomez and Jayden Guerrero; mother: Carmen Gonzalez from Mexico; brothers: Alejandro Gomez (Rocio) from Mexico; sisters: Susana Gomez from Mexico and Liliana Rubio (Jorge) from Atlanta, GA; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and extended family members.

Visitation will begin Friday, September 17, 2021, 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM  at the  Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel, Sinton. A Holy Rosary will be recited the same evening, 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, 18, 2021, 10:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Taft. Burial will follow in Palms Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Portland.
