Carlos Moreno Obituary

Carlos H. Moreno, known to many as Chale or Charlie, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, December 26, 2021 following a lengthy illness.  He was surrounded by his loving family.

Carlos was born on March 25, 1941 in Taft, Texas to Jose S. Moreno and Hijinia H. Moreno.  He was a lifetime resident of Taft and graduated from Taft High School in 1960.

Upon graduation Carlos was drafted into the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Germany.  He served his country for two years.

Carlos worked for Reynolds Metals/Sherwin Aluminum from 1967-2003 (36 years).  He was a loyal member of ABG (Aluminum Brick and Glass International Union) Local 235A, later the USW Local 235A (United Steelworkers International Union).  Carlos was also a Charter member of SOAR (Steelworkers Organization of Active Retirees).

Carlos is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Ruben, and his sister-in-law Lupe.

Carlos is survived by his wife of 53 years, Maria Anita Galindo Moreno of Taft, his three children Sandra Ann (Nick) Chavez of Taft, Linda Moreno of Corpus Christi, Carlos Jr. (Celina) Moreno of Corpus Christi, and his grandchildren Cassie (Brycen) Burks, Caitlyn Chavez, Kaleb Moreno, and Micah Hernandez.  He is also survived by his siblings Basilio (Ida) Moreno, Loreto (Delfina) Moreno, Rodolfo Moreno, Angelica (Frank) Cuellar, Reynaldo Moreno, and Manuel (Odi) Moreno, and numerous in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Carlos was an active member of Immaculate Conception Church in Taft.  He was an avid sports fan and loved to sing.  He was dearly loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Harbor Hospice of Rockport and the office of Dr. Jerome Lee Sang and Dr. Michael Soler of Portland for their kindness and compassion during his illness.  The family would also like to extend a special thanks to Monica, his provider.

Visitation will take place at Resthaven Funeral Home in Sinton, Texas on Monday, January 3, 2022 from 5pm-9pm with a Rosary at 7pm.  Mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church in Taft on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at 11:30am.  A graveside service will follow in Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery in Corpus Christi at 1pm.
