Christine "Hunee" Ruth Untermeyer Obituary
Christine Ruth Untermeyer, dearly loved and known affectionately as "Hunee”, was called to Heaven on Thursday, September 26th, 2024 at the age of 69. Her passing leaves a void in the lives of all who knew and loved her. Born on January 5, 1955, to the late Edgar James and Glynn Dean Untermeyer in their family home in Aransas Pass, TX. She was the youngest of five children.
A devoted single mother to her daughter, Kathleen Flanigan, their bond was unbreakable. They spoke every day, sharing laughter, dreams, and unwavering support. Hunee’s love for her child was boundless, and she instilled in her the values of kindness, perseverance, and compassion.
Her love shone even brighter in her role as a grandmother. Her six grandchildren: Ashley Ward (Deanna), Amanda Vega, Kassandra Flanigan (Seth), Steven Flanigan, Zachary Flanigan (Taylor), and James Flanigan (Kyra), held a special place in her heart. Additionally, six great-grandchildren were a source of constant joy and wonder in her life.
Christine worked as a security officer in the Com Center at Citgo Refinery for 32 years. She was dedicated to her work family and could always be counted on to step up and help when needed. She made the big decision to retire in May of 2023 and was looking forward to doing all the things she loved, which included spending quality time with family. She enjoyed traveling with her daughter, and recently was able to travel to Washington DC so she could soak up all the history. She had a passion for history and loved to share with her friends and family. She loved puzzles, crosswords, and was an avid reader who couldn’t put a good book down. She had a personal goal to become a certified scuba diver and was able to fulfill her dream when she dove in the Cayman Islands. She loved her animals and always had a heart to help any animal in need. Her family was her biggest love, and she enjoyed family gatherings and giving to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a deep faith in God and a deep love of her daughter and family.
Remembered for her infectious laughter, her boundless generosity, and the unwavering love she had for her family, Hunee's memory will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration. Her absence will be deeply felt by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
She is preceded in death by her beloved parents: Edgar James and Glynn Dean Untermeyer; two brothers: Guinn "Butch" Sullivan and Daniel Floyd Sullivan; and nephew: Robbie Sullivan.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter and will forever be cherished by her daughter: Kathleen Flanigan (Chad); 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and brothers: David Sullivan (Peggy) of Wimberley, TX, and Eddie "Cowboy" Untermeyer (Kelli) of Heber Springs.
