Cleotilde A. Castillo

Taft – Cleotilde Castillo also known as Wela, a loving mother of eight children and an adoring wife to her late husband Augustin Castillo, passed away on March 25, 2022 at the age of 89.Cleotilde was born in Woodsboro, Texas in 1932 to Pedro and Felicita Arevalo. She was a life lifelong resident of Taft, Texas surrounded by her large family and many extended family members and friends. Cleotilde was a long time member of “De Colores” Cursillo.  Cleotilde was influenced by her dad to be a loving, caring, and hard -working woman, always giving her time to others, and never expecting something in return. She was a retired employee and became a dedicated caretaker of her late mom and dedicated caring housewife to her late husband. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great and great-great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.

Cleotilde is preceded in death by her loving husband Augustin Castillo, her great-granddaughter Natasha Brown, her parents Felicita and Pedro Arevalo, her sisters, Tomasa Naranjo, Elida Castillo, Esperanza Castro, Anita Alvarado and Sarita Arevalo, her brother Guadalupe Arevalo.

She is survived by her eight children, Conrad Castillo (Petra) of Taft, Margaret (Reynaldo Gonzales) of Taft, Gloria (Jose Rivera) of Houston, Alveisa Medina of Taft, Ermelinda ( Roy Garcia) of Sinton, Daniel Castillo (Dolores) of Taft, Raymundo Castillo ( Celia) of Portland, Olga Castillo of Taft. She is also survived by  four siblings, Eloisa Garcia of Taft, Carmen Martinez of Victoria, David Arevalo of Killeen, and Augustin Arevalo of Corpus Christi. She has 37 grandchildren, 90 great grandchildren, 14 great -great grandchildren and an extended amount of family members. 

Visitation will begin Thursday, April 7, 2022, 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM at the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel, Sinton. A Holy Rosary will be recited the same evening, 7:00 PM at the funeral home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated April 8, 2022, 10:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Church, Taft. A Graveside Service will follow in Lamas Memorial Park Cemetery, Taft at 11:00 AM.
