Curtis Alonzo Marsh Obituary

Curtis Alonzo Marsh passed away peacefully on May 18, 2026, with his beloved Isabel at his bedside. He was 88.

Curtis was born on June 14, 1937 in Bristol, Virginia to Susie (Mitchell) and Ed Marsh. He proudly served his country in the United States Army for 20 years. Curtis was a Vietnam  Veteran and was a Purple Heart recipient. While stationed in Panama, Curtis met the love of his life, Isabel. Their love story began there, and the two were married in 1959 sharing 67 devoted years together filled with laughter, adventure and love.

Curtis was a simple man who found joy in the things he loved most — spending time with Isabel, being outdoors, fishing, hunting and cooking for the people he cared about. He and Isabel especially loved fishing together, and family members will always remember the playful arguments about who caught the biggest fish. Those moments brought a smile and laughter to everyone around them and became treasured memories. He loved county music and playing the guitar. He had the pleasure of playing with Johnny Lee one night at Cazadores Hunting Lodge.

Curtis also loved firing up the barbecue pit, and brisket was his specialty. Whether he was outdoors with a fishing pole in hand or standing beside the grill, he was happiest when surrounded by family and friends.

Preceding in death are his parents, Ed and Susie Marsh; and his siblings, Viola Marsh Morgan, Nancy Marsh Clifton and Hobart Marsh.

Curtis leaves behind the love of his life and devoted wife of 67 years, Isabel Marsh; his brothers, Jimmy Marsh, Dean Marsh and Wayne Marsh; his sisters, Gloria Marsh Carrier, Janice Cook, JoAnn Rock and Bonnie Sue Lang; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

Curtis will be remembered for his strength, his sense of humor, his love for family and the many memories he created with those who knew and loved him.
