Danny Paul Robinson

Rockport - Danny Paul Robinson, 75, of Rockport, Texas (formerly of Horsehead Lake/Mecosta

County, Michigan) passed away peacefully on March 17, 2024 with his wife at his side.

Danny was born December 7, 1948 in Lansing, MI to Alice and Jerald Robinson.

Danny joined the United States Army in 1974 where he was stationed at “scenic Fort Hood.” Danny went on to complete the law enforcement program at San Marcos, Texas. He became a Patrol Officer in Marble Falls, TX for 8 years, moving back to Michigan in 1983. In October 1988, Danny joined the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Department where he held many positions over the years, including; Animal Control, Road and Marine Deputy. Danny was also Chief of Police of the Village of Morley, MI for 26 years. Danny served the Mecosta County Community in many ways over the years. In 2009, Danny hung up his gun and badge, retired and traveled the country with his wife before settling down first in Reliance, South Dakota and then in Rockport, Texas. Danny was one to always have a story to tell. He was outgoing and would strike up a conversation with anyone wherever he was. Danny wore many hats but the hat he loved the most was being a husband to Cheryl, a dad to his boys and “the daughter” and Papa to his grand and great grandchildren.

Danny is preceded in death by his parents; in-laws: Marv and Ellie; brother-in-law:  Roy.

Danny is survived by his best friend and wife of 32 years: Cheryl (Compson) Robinson; children: Todd Bowen from Marble Falls, TX, Paul (Jennifer) Robinson and Dan (Autumn)

Robinson from Justin, TX; 13 grandchildren: Trey, Ashley (Ryan), Kirstyn, Tyler

(Marisel), Kaylee, Abby, Noah, Eva, Natalie, Adam Jr., Ty, Mason and Levi;  5 great-

Grandchildren:  Braxton, Adaline, Maribella, Marlie and Zyler; 3 sisters: Judy (Jerry) Hunt, Sharon (Marvin) Coy and Jerrie Sue (Al) Chelsey. Danny will also be missed greatly by his best friend; Black Jack.

Memorial services will take place on Friday, March 22, 2024 at 5:00 PM at Stevie Lew’s BBQ in

Rockport, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be made in Danny’s honor to Harbor Hospice in Rockport, Texas or the American Cancer Society.
