David Garcia, Jr.

Odem – David Garcia, Jr. was born in Sinton, Texas to David Garcia Sr. and Rita Garcia on October 26th, 1966.  He went to school at Odem High School where he was an ace pitcher and led the team to victory in the Baseball State Championship in 1984. On May 30th, 1996 he welcomed his only child, daughter Lorraine Garcia into the world. He married Melissa Garcia on December 19th 2009 in Kinder, Louisiana at the golf course of one of their favorite casinos, Coushatta. He worked as a Salesman in various industries. Most notably car sales for CC Automart in Corpus Christi and most recently, oilfield services for Cobra Stacks. In the fall you could find David under the Friday Night Lights watching South Texas high school football games. He passed down his love of baseball to younger generations by volunteering as a little league coach for the Cobras in the senior division. He also spent many a night enjoying the game of poker with his close friends. He even took his game to the big leagues and placed in a World Series of Poker tournament in Las Vegas. Fishing was also a favorite pastime of his and when his hands weren’t on the reels, he was watching some of his favorite programs on LMN. David was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend who will be missed dearly.

Preceding in death are his father: David Garcia, Sr.; great-nephew: Stevie Jay Garcia; father-in-law: Arnold Garcia.

Survivors include his wife: Melissa Garcia of Odem, Texas; daughter: Lorraine Garcia of Odem, Texas; stepsons: Nicholas Garcia of Seattle, Washington and Ryan Garza of Odem, Texas; stepdaughter: Tiffany Garcia of Odem, Texas; step granddaughter: Serena Gonzalez of Odem, Texas; mother: Rita Garcia of Odem, Texas; sisters: Dalia Moore (Tommy) of Odem, Texas, Diana Garcia of Odem, Texas and Dolores Tovar (Joel) of Odem, Texas; mother-in-law: Irma Garcia of Odem, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin Tuesday, June 9, 2020, 5:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel, Sinton. A Holy Rosary will be recited the same evening, 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, June 10, 2020, 10:00 AM in San Pedro Cemetery, Odem with Father Pete Elizardo as celebrant.

Pallbearers will be Rene Hinojosa, Tony Perez, Ignacio (Nacho) Vela, Tommy Moore, Joel Tovar and Richard Martinez.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jacob Garcia and Thomas Jay Garcia.
