Diana B. Evans

Ingleside – Diana B. Evans passed away peacefully on February 8, 2021 in Harlingen, Texas. She was 85.

Diana was born on May 18, 1935 in Gregory, Texas to Leonor (Vasquez) and Pablo Benitez. She was a resident of Ingleside, and most recently Port Mansfield. Diana was well-known as the friendly waitress at the Island Café in Port Aransas. She married the love of her life, Larry Evans on August 3, 1971. For 49 years, they were inseparable and made their lives together raising their children. Besides the love and devotion for her husband and children, Diana was thrilled to be a Grandma, great-grandma and great-great grandma. She will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her.

Preceding in death are her parents: Pablo and Leonor Benitez; an infant son: Larry G. Evans, Jr.; son: Robert “Bobby” Villarreal; and sister: Viola Solis.  

Survivors include her loving husband: Larry G. Evans; sons: Winston B. Caraker, III; Charlie B. Caraker (Sue); Steven B. Caraker (Kayla); Chris Benitez (Linda); daughters: Helen M. Caraker and Joanne McRae (Gary); 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; brothers: Pablo Ray Benitez; sisters: Mary Lourdes Lopez; Lucille “Lulu” Spriggs; Margie Peed Benitez; Virginia Martinez; Teresa Deisch; Laverne Benitez Alvarado; and many extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 12, 2021 from 12:00 noon to 7:00 PM at the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel in Aransas Pass, Texas. A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, February 13, 2021, 10:00 AM at the Gregory Cemetery, Gregory.

Pallbearers will be Winston B. Caraker III, Charlie B. Caraker, Steven B. Caraker, Larry Caraker, Nathan A. McRae and Earl “Bubba” Evans.
