Dianna Lane Fontenot Amason of Ingleside, Texas, went home to Jesus on September 6, 2023, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease and Dementia. She was born to Wesley Joseph Fontenot and Mary Mae Durio Fontenot Touchet on February 15, 1949, in Eunice, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.
Dianna was a caring and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister & friend and will be missed by many. She left a legacy from Texas to Louisiana.
When Dianna’s children were young, the phrase “stay-at-home-mom” didn’t exist. It was usual for women to stay home with the children while their husbands worked. But even by the standards of the era, Dianna was a great wife and mother. She cared deeply for her family and friends. Preceding in death are a grandson: Jason Paul Skaggs from Oberlin, Louisiana; and parents: Wesley and Mary Fontenot from Sulphur, Louisiana; sister: Barbara Fontenot from Sulphur, Lousiana; and brothers: Reginald Wayne Fontenot and Stephen James Fontenot, Sr. both from Sulphur, Lousiana; stepson: Johnny Ray Amason from Corpus Christi, Texas.
Survivors include David Amason from Ingleside, Texas; her daughters: Debra Amason from Ingleside, Texas; Tony Skaggs (Bubby); Monica Renee Chatman Granger (Darryl) and Rhonda Moreaux (Lamar), all from Oberlin, Louisiana; sons: Elmer Lee Chatman, Jr. from Oberlin, Louisiana and Dwight Chatman (Kim) from New Haven, Missouri; 15 grandchildren; brother: Wesley Fontenot, Jr. from Toledo Bend, Louisiana; sisters: Della Duplechin from Sulphur, Lousiana; Dawana Trajan and Phyllis Smith, both from Sulphur, Louisiana; brother in law: Paul Amason (Lynda) from Dickinson, Texas; Caregiver & friend: Sarah Guzman.
A special thank you to the wonderful hospice team from Gentiva Hospice especially Monica Wright (nurse) and Melissa Sanchez (social worker) who went above and beyond to make sure Dianna was comfortable and happy. We are very grateful for your loving care, kindness and concern for and to Dianna and her family.
