Domingo M. Rivas

Sinton – Domingo M. Rivas passed away March 27, 2022. He was 92.

Domingo was born on February 2, 1930 in Swinney Switch, Texas to Rita (Morin) and Librado Rivas. He was a lifelong resident of Sinton, Texas. Domingo was a laborer and was employed by H&K Construction before retiring.

He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, uncle, brother and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his first wife: Leonor DeLeon Rivas; wife: Gracie Castillo; children: Johnny Rivas, Manuel Rivas, Raul Rivas and Olga Rivas; parents: Librado and Rita Rivas; sisters: Paula Martinez and Carolina Cervantes; brothers Santos Rivas, Juan Rivas, Augustine Rivas and Cruz Rivas.

Survivors include his sons: Domingo Rivas, Jr. (Marta) and Jose Rivas (Julia) both from Houston, Texas; daughters: Aurora Simmons (Joe) from Tomball, Texas, Mary Lou Lopez from Galena Park, Texas, Irma Olivarez (Juan) from Houston, Texas, Virginia Zapata (Jesse) from St Paul, Texas and Sylvia Rivas from Sinton, Texas; 23 grandchildren and numerous of great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren; brothers: Librado Rivas from San Antonio, Texas and Alejandro Rivas Slaton, Texas; sisters: Manuela Lacebal from California and Refugia “Lupe” Andrist from Lubbock, Texas; special nephew: Eliseo Rivas (Delia) from Sinton, Texas; And many extended family members and friends.

Visitation will begin Wednesday, March 30, 2022, 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel in Sinton. The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be recited the same evening, 7:00 PM at the funeral home. The Funeral Service will be held Thursday, March 31, 2022, 1:00 PM at the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel, Sinton. Burial will follow in Eternal Rest Cemetery, Sinton.
