Ingleside – Douglas Lee Richardson passed away surrounded by his family on March 27, 2023. He was 84. Douglas was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on August 19, 1938 to Nelda Mae (Willenberg) and Hubert Weldon Richardson. He lived in Ingleside all of his life, graduating from Ingleside Hospital in 1956; he joined the Army National Guard, rising to the rank of Sergeant. Douglas married his sweetheart Brenda Joyce Gleghorn, September 2, 1960; they raised two children; Mark and Lezlie. He worked for Reynold Metals for 34 years. He spent many years coaching Ingleside Pony League and hunting with his best friend, Gordon Kemp. He was a lifelong member of the Ingleside United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of the Commemorative Air Force. His love of World War II airplanes had him traveling to Harlingen and Midland, Texas leading the oil crew for many years. Douglas was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.
Preceding in death by his parents: Nelda Mae and Hubert Richardson; brother: Robert “Rob” Richardson; in-laws: Bryant and Christine Gleghorn.
Survivors include his loving wife of 62+ years: Brenda J. Richardson from Ingleside, Texas; son: Mark W. Richardson (Lisa) from Round Rock, Texas; daughter: Lezlie M. Whitaker (Danny) from Ingleside, Texas; 5 grandchildren: Jordan Bowers from Austin, Texas, Chase Bowers from Ingleside, Texas, Bryant Richardson from Round Rock, Texas, Kathryn Richardson from Round Rock, Texas and Danny D. Whittaker II from Euless, Texas and his faithful companion: Friday (his cat).
A Celebration of life will be held, May 19th, Ingleside United Methodist Church, 4:00PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ingleside United Methodist Church.
