Edith Lamoid Schneider, 97, passed away Thursday, August 13, 2026 in McAllen, Texas after a long battle with thyroid cancer and dementia.

Edith was born on July 12, 1929 in Mineral Township, Sevier County, Arkansas to John Taylor Womack and Mattie Belle Crouch Womack. After marrying the love of her life, John, on February 20, 1948, they made their home together first in Corpus Christi, Texas for 7 years, and then in Aransas Pass, Texas for 36 years until John’s passing. Edith continued living in Aransas Pass 23 more years, spending her last 13 years in Mission and McAllen, Texas. Edith resided in McAllen until her passing.
Edith was a loving wife, devoted mother and special grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 42 years, John L. Schneider; her parents, 2 younger sisters, Betty Christine Johnson and Ima Jean Jones; and 3 nephews.

Left to cherish Edith’s memory are her daughter, Sherrill Dreibelbis (Robert) from Mission, Texas; her son, John E. Schneider (Rhonda) from Ingleside, Texas; 2 granddaughters, Jo Juelg (Randy) from Wheat Ridge, Colorado and Terri Greenwood (Chad) from Livingston, Texas; great-grandchildren, Ryan Reed, Zachary Greenwood (Courtney) and Haley Smelley (Brad); great-great grandchildren Dylan Maddox, Axel Smelley, Acen Greenwood, Coen Smelley and Kodi Smelley, all from Livingston, Texas; 4 nieces and 3 nephews.

The family extends special thanks and appreciation to Rebecca Guerrero for her years of care assisted by Pat, Ralph, Diana and Arnoldo.

Graveside Services and burial next to her beloved husband will be held Saturday, August 22, 2026, 11:00 AM at Prairie View Cemetery in Aransas Pass, Texas with Pastor Steve Trout of Central Baptist Church of Ingleside, Texas officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to a charity of your choice in Edith’s memory. With heavy hearts, we take comfort in the memories Edith leaves behind and the example of a life well-lived. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
