Elinor Jean “Jeanie” Goldman was born in Hooker, Oklahoma on September 9, 1938. As a small child in the early 1940’s, Jeanie, traveled with her parents, John and Evelyn Webb, across the country riding in the side car of her parents’ motorcycle. Her life was filled with adventure as her father found work, moving from state to state as a contract welder during World War II.

When Jeanie was in elementary school, the family moved from California to the Rio Grande Valley in Southern Texas. The family moved a final time and made their home in Bishop, Texas when Jeanie was in junior high school. In high school, Jeanie was a cheerleader, played basketball and was chosen Miss Bishop High School her senior year. Although she had moved many times in her life, Jeanie always made friends quickly. She graduated from Bishop High School in 1956.

Upon graduation in the fall of 1956, Jeanie attended college at Texas A & I University in Kingsville, Texas. There, she met the love of her life, Ronnie Goldman. They were married in March of 1958. In February of 1959, Jeanie and Ronnie had their first daughter, Shana, who was born in Kingsville, Texas.

The family left Texas and moved to New Jersey once Ronnie graduated from Texas A & I in 1960. At this time, Ronnie was in the US Army. Jeanie and Ronnie then relocated to Fort Gordon Army Base in Augusta, Georgia. It was during this time, while stationed at Fort Gordon in March of 1961, that Jeanie and Ronnie had their second daughter, Cheryl. In 1962, the family made a final move back to Sinton, Texas. A year later in May of 1963, Jeanie and Ronnie had the first son, Ron, Jr.

Once settled in Sinton, Jeanie and Ronnie joined the First Baptist Church. Jeanie’s love for the Lord and the Bible led her to teaching Sunday School for young ladies and working with the youth group on Sunday evenings alongside Ronnie for many decades. Jeanie was also very active in Women’s Missionary Union at First Baptist Church and was on many committees helping members of the church in need. Jeanie had a gift of service given to her by God. She was a member of First Baptist Church for over 60 years where she made many close and life-long, dear friendships.

After her children started school, Jeanie began working as a substitute teacher at Sinton High School. Jeanie loved teaching young people and, through substitute teaching, Jeanie was able to have a profound effect on many students’ lives and made hundreds of lasting relationships with her students.

Later in her life, Jeanie worked at the San Patricio County Tax Office in Sinton and, later, as an office manager for Dr. Walter Hartman in Calallen, Texas. Due to the failing health of her parents and her in-laws, Jeanie took on the full-time role of care-giver to both for many years until their death.

It was Jeanie’s desire in life to minister to the needs of others. She enjoyed sharing her home with others, hosting bridal and baby showers, Sunday school parties and holiday family celebrations. She also cooked hundreds of “friendship loaves” to give to others in need. She was a prayer warrior for so many people in her life, especially her children and grandchildren. Even when she was unable to attend church, she continued to minister to many by phone, some on a daily basis.

Jeanie lived life to the fullest. To her daughters, Jeanie was known as the “Queen Bee” and she wore her title proudly. If you had a question about college or professional football or basketball, Jeanie would always be able to give you an answer. Many family hours were spent in the “TV room” at her home, having long conversations with her children and grandchildren about whose team was the best. She loved music from an early age, especially music from the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley. She loved her family with all her heart and her family loved her dearly. She will be greatly missed.

Jeanie went to be with the Lord on May 29, 2025, where she was reunited with the love of her life, Ronnie. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronnie Goldman; her parents, John and Evelyn Webb; her sister, Glenda Gunter and her nephew, Chris Gunter. She is survived by her daughters, Shana Austin and Cheryl (Lawton) Goldman; her son, Ron Goldman, Jr. (Diane); grandchildren, Ryne Austin, Erika Franklin (Hutch), Ronnie Goldman, III (Molly), John Goldman; great-grandchildren, Harlyn and Holdyn Franklin; Gracie Mae Goldman; her sister, Judy McGee and brother-in-law, Claude Gunter.

Visitation will begin Tuesday, June 3, 2025, 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel, Sinton. A celebration of Jeanie’s life will be held at First Baptist Church in Sinton, Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at 10:30 AM, with graveside following the service at Sinton Cemetery.
