Elisa Martinez

Taft – Elisa Martinez passed away peacefully on September 3, 2020 with her loving family at her side. She was 86.

Elisa was born on December 1, 1933 in Pharr, Texas to Alfredo and Elena (Sosa) Martinez. She was a resident of Taft most of her life and former resident of Corpus Christi. Elisa was a Nurse’s Aide employed by Retama Manor for more than 20 years and a homemaker. She was a devoted member of Iglesia de Cristo in Taft. Elisa was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.

Preceding in death is her husband: Guadalupe “Wally” Martinez; a son: Gregorio Martinez; parents: Alfredo Martinez and Elena Govea; sisters: Rosita Govea, Herlinda Jaramillo and Berta Jaramillo.

Survivors include her sons: Guadalupe Martinez Jr. (Sulema) from Taft, Texas; John Martinez (Rose) from Michigan; Joe Martinez (Patsy) from Portland, Texas; Phillip Martinez (Veronica) from Taft, Texas; Richard Martinez (Mary) from Virginia; a daughter: Bertina Lugo (Fidel) from Taft, Texas; 23 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; a sister: Isabel Zapata (Antonio) from Pasadena, Texas; daughter-in-law: Angie Martinez from Pasadena, Texas; and many extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 4, 2020, 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM at the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel in Aransas Pass. A Prayer Service will be the same evening, 7:30 PM at the funeral home. A Graveside Service will be Saturday, September 5, 2020, 10:00 AM at the Lamas Memorial Park Cemetery in Taft.
