Elizabeth "Betty" Zych

Port Aransas – Elizabeth “Betty” Zych passed away March 29, 2021. She was 68.

Betty was born on May 13, 1952 in Chicago, Illinois to John and Bette (Schergen) Tobin. She was a current resident of Port Aransas, and former resident of Morris, Illinois. Betty met the love of her life, James, and together they raised 3 wonderful children. Betty and James would have celebrated 50 years of blissful marriage on September 18 this year. She was the most giving person one could ever meet. Betty was an advocate for everyone. She took in family to provide love and a home. Betty was strong and courageous. She was a warrior and survivor (not only of cancer, but of life in general). Betty was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend who will be missed by everyone who knew her.

Betty is preceded in death by her father: John “Jack” Tobin; sister: Dianne Mulvihill; and brother: John “Jack” Tobin.

Survivors include her devoted husband: James Zych from Port Aransas, Texas; daughters: Amy Zych (Jennifer Bamonte) from Morris, Il; Tracy Smith (Dale) from Victoria, Texas; and Jamie Zych (Anthony Emefiele) from Joliet, IL; grandchildren: Sean Smith, Elizabeth Smith, Luke Smith, Oliver Emefiele and Simon Emefiele; mother: Bette Tobin from Alsip, IL; brother: James Tobin from Coal City, IL; sister: Mary Burris from Morris, Illinois and many extended family members and friends.

Visitation will begin Saturday, April 3, 2021, 11:00 AM at the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel in Aransas Pass. The Funeral Service will be held the same day, 1:00 PM at the funeral home.

Burial will be private.
