Esperanza (Hope) Martinez was called home to her Lord and Savior on April 30, 2025 surrounded by her family. She was 78.

 Esperanza was born on October 30, 1946 in Gonzalez, Texas to Jose and Isabel Montoya. She is preceded in death by her husband Ismael Martinez; her parents and brothers (Jose Montoya and Leonardo Montoya (Olga). Esperanza was a devout Christian, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She leaves 4 children: Esmeralda Espinoza (Gilbert), David Pena, Jr. (Sue), Priscilla Castillo and Guadalupe Vargas (Fausto). Esperanza was blessed with 12 grandchildren: Michelle, Nicole, John, David, Joseph, Samantha, Frankie, Javier, Symon, Daniel, Joshua and Ryan; 14 great-grandchildren: Marisol, Gabriel, Breanna, Orlando, Javier, Josiah, Jayce, Angel, Lilly, Chloe, Noah, AJ, Nayilah and David. 

Esperanza was a private caregiver by trait but a care taker to all. She also had many talents including quilting, sewing, cooking and baking.  Although she loved all of these things, what she loved and cherished most was being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  Her family meant everything to her. Esperanza ensured all of her grandchildren received a handmade quilt when they were born. She made homemade baked treats on every holiday or just for no reason. If she knew you were visiting, she would make your favorite meal or snack. This was Esperanza’s love language. She leaves a group of close-knit friends who loved her and she loved as well. Esperanza leaves a huge void in our hearts to all who knew her.
Visitation will begin Wednesday, May 7, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel, Sinton. The Chapel Service will be held the same evening, 7:00 PM at the funeral home.  The Funeral Service will be Thursday, May 8, 2025, 10:00 AM at the funeral home with burial to follow in San Pedro Cemetery, Odem.
