Eulalia Cantu Sanchez Obituary

Eulalia Cantu Sanchez, a beloved wife, sister, daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on November 15, 2025. Her friends affectionately called her “Lala.”

Lala made sure home was a place of comfort, laughter, amazing food and most importantly unconditional love. Many will remember her doting over her four children always reminding them to “take a jacket, because you never know when you might need it!” Friends knew they could come by any time for some Cafecito and a chat. In fact, that is how she met the love of her life Dr. Orlando J Sanchez, she agreed to a Cafecito date after he saw and followed her on a float at the Buccaneer Parade. They were married for almost 54 years until his passing in 2009. Together they raised four children.

Lala had a gentle nature about her and a kind heart which left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She carried herself with grace, impeccable style and more importantly a quiet strength that can be envied in all her 98 years here on earth.

Her kids may have teased her about ‘her mother hen nature,’ but in all honesty she gave the best motherly advice and will be dearly missed.

She is preceded in death by her husband Dr. Orlando J. Sanchez; her brothers Joe (Maxine), Ariel (Lillie Mae), Manuel, Claude Cantu; her sisters Delia (Calvin Lorfing), Ameli (Uvaldo Chapa) and her brother-in-law Mario Longoria, her daughter-in-law Cynthia Garza-Sanchez.

She is survived by her sister Rosa Longoria and sister-in-law Gloria Cantu, both from Corpus Christi, Texas. Her children Orlando J Jr. (Dan Carson), Saint Severe Marie Salinas (JC Salinas), Phillip James Sanchez, and June Gerette Rodriguez (William Rodriguez).  Her grandchildren, Mia Sara Sanchez (Fiancé Alex Caldera), Celeste Neri Sanchez (Lourdes Ballesteros), Nicolas Salinas; great grandchildren Sophia Quiroz, Evelyn and Maya Caldera.
