Glenda Dragoo Standlee Obituary
Sinton - Glenda Eulene Dragoo Standlee, age 83, went home to be with our Heavenly Father on May 15, 2024, in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was born in Mathis, Texas, April 12, 1941, to Zelma Lee (Binkley) and Owen Dragoo.
Glenda was very loving mother, sister, grandma, great grandma, and aunt. She never missed sending her family and friends a birthday or some holiday card wishes. She was a simple and very conservative person but not when it came to her family which there was nothing, she would not do for them.
Glenda was a member of the Odem Church of Christ since 1983. The church was her second family. She will be dearly missed by all whose lives she touched. She played in two different Bunco clubs, met with the senior classes of 58’ and 59’ once a month at different restaurants to discuss old times and all their aches and pains. On Fridays when she could, she would play hand and foot card game with three other ladies.
On May 6, 1961, she married James Standlee from Taft, Texas. They had two sons, Jeffrey Ronald Standlee and James Bradly Standlee. Sadly to say, after 20 years together, they divorced. Glenda went on to raise her two boys alone. The boys grew up to be two of the finest gentlemen you could ever ask for.
After graduating from Sinton High School in 1959, she went on to graduate from Stevenson Cosmetology School in 1960. She went to work for Marinello Beauty Shop in Sinton until she married and moved with her husband to Fort Niagara, Niagara Falls, New York. Her then husband was stationed in the Army at this post. After the service they moved to Kountze, Texas when James went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company.
After the divorce in 1976, she moved back to Sinton where she found a job with Trodlier Insurance and Real Estate for 15 years. When the agency was sold to Alliance Insurance Agency she worked for them 11 years. Then Glenda worked for the City of Sinton for 8 years. Finally, it was time to retire at age 69.
She loved trying to work the morning crossword puzzle in the newspaper. She got great pleasure feeding the backyard birds. Glenda had a full and graceful life, one that was dedicated to the family she loved and to her church family. She had great spiritual strength and was a faithful servant to the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Owen and Zelma Lee Dragoo.
Glenda is survived by her sons: Jeffrey Ronald (Maria Anita) Standlee from Three Rivers, Texas and James Bradley (Lisa) Standlee from Portland, Texas; sister: Sandra (Ronnie) Kruger of Refugio, Texas; grandchildren: David (Eileen) Standlee from Portland, Texas, Lindsey (Toby) Mozek from Lakewood, California, Kelli Aguirre (Cody) from George West, Texas, Kourtney Johnston (Hagan) from Three Rivers, Texas, A.J., Austin and Ryan from Portland, Texas; great grandchildren: Macey Hammack, Collin Mozek, Devin Mozek, Colby Aguirre, Cheston Johnston, Ragan Johnston and Bryce Johnston; nephew Reagan (Stephanie) Kruger and his three children from Huffman, Texas.
