Guadalupe O’Canas passed away peacefully May 21, 2025. She was 91.
Guadalupe was born July 13, 1933 in Gonzales, Texas to Lydia (Mancias) and Nicolas Pizana. She was a resident of Odem most of her life. She was a former housekeeper and babysitter. Guadalupe was a woman of prayer. She always prayed for the sick and for everyone she knew. Guadalupe was a dedicated mother and grandmother. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Preceding in death are her husband: Jose O’Canas; a son: Jose Ernesto O’Canas; parents: Nicolas and Lydia Pizana; and siblings: Virginia Chapa, Juan Pizana, Ruben Pizana, Mary Lou Pizana, Amada Lopez and Antonio Pizana.
Survivors include 2 daughters: Janie O’Canas from Odem, Texas; Lydia O’Canas from Houston, Texas; son: Abel O’Canas (Yolanda) from Corpus Christi, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great grandchildren; sister: Maria Teresa Connor from San Marcos, Texas; and many extended family members.
Visitation will begin Thursday, May 22, 2025, 5:30 PM at the Sacred Heart Church in Odem. The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held the same evening, 7:00 PM at the church. Visitation will resume Saturday, May 24, 2025, beginning at 8:00 AM at the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel, Sinton. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church, Odem. Burial will follow in San Pedro Cemetery, Odem.
