Heather Lynn Martinez, the middle daughter of three sisters, was born on May 3, 1979, to Gerald and Sherri. She was welcomed into the world by her older sister, Amy, and later, her younger sister, Samantha, joined the duo, making it a trio. The family was completed by Earl (Pokey), Sherri's husband, and Heather, Amy, & Samantha's stepdad. As the middle sister, Heather naturally became the glue that held the family together, embodying a beacon of love and strength from a young age. Those who knew her during childhood recall her as a perfect child—rarely in trouble and admired by all. She was a figure of inspiration, both in character and in heart.

Heather spent most of her life in Aransas Pass, TX, with only a brief stay in Portland, TX, before returning to AP and her beloved 10th Street home just as fast as she could. She graduated from Aransas Pass High School in 1997. Heather then began her educational journey to pursue her dream of becoming a teacher. She attended Del Mar College from August 1997 to December 1999, majoring in Early Childhood Education. She then completed her studies at Texas A&M Corpus Christi. In 2001, Heather earned a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies, becoming the first person in her immediate family to graduate from college.

Her career as an educator was marked by dedication and passion. Heather's teaching journey began with stints at a Montessori school, teaching 4th grade, and running her own in-home preschool, Creative Minds Academy of Aransas Pass. However, her true calling emerged when she became a Pre-K and Kindergarten teacher at Faulk Elementary, where she devoted 15 years of her life. Heather was beloved by students, parents, and colleagues alike, often teaching multiple siblings, children of friends and co-workers, and two of her nieces. Most extraordinarily, Heather first met Genesis when she was one of her Kindergarten students, not knowing she would later become her mom.

In addition to her teaching career, Heather worked double time as a wife and mom first and secondly as her husband, Emmanuel's business partner. However, much Heather loved to teach and was excited and ready for whatever new venture Emmanuel had in mind, nothing compared to the two most important titles she held: WIFE & MOM.

She met Emmanuel on the Island during Spring Break 1997. They began dating shortly after that. At a surprise birthday party, with both of their families present, they were engaged on May 3, 2000, and quickly married later that same year on December 16, 2000. Their first child, Sebastian Tuff, was born on October 16, 2001. Heather and Emmanuel's journey into parenthood expanded through guardianship, foster care, and adoption. In 2003, Tamara Lynn, then 12, joined their family following the death of Heather and Tamara's Granny. Heather and Emmanuel embraced Tamara with open hearts and became her parents with unwavering love. Their family grew once again with the birth of Ryder Cash on May 24, 2004. On July 26, 2017, for Tamara's 27th birthday, Nicholas Jai, who was four years old, knocked on the door and asked if they had any toys. That was the moment Niko became Heather's, and she became his! Genesis Arabella found her forever home and completed their family when she too joined them on May 30, 2018. On August 30, 2019, Heather and Emmanuel officially became a family of seven with the adoption of Genesis and Niko.

Heather's devotion to her family was unparalleled and deeply rooted in her character. As the middle child, Heather was by birth order a central figure in her family, effortlessly bridging gaps and fostering harmony among those around her. Her role as a beloved daughter of Sherri and Earl (Pokey) was marked by their never-ending love and support. Heather's caring spirit extended beyond her immediate family to embrace everyone she considered family or friend.

Her relationships with her sisters were especially meaningful. As a sister, Heather was both a confidante and a source of strength, playing a crucial role in their lives. Her bond with her sisters was a testament to her commitment to family unity and support.

Heather also formed extremely close-knit and affectionate relationships with her in-laws. She cherished her time with Emmanuel's family, building strong bonds with his parents, his sisters, his brothers-in-law and their entire extended family. She welcomed them all into her life with open arms, creating a larger circle of love and support.

Her relationships with her nieces and nephews were incredibly precious to her, and she took joy in being an integral part of their lives, offering guidance and sharing in their milestones.

Heather's love and support also extended to her aunts, uncles, and cousins. Her connections with these relatives were marked by genuine affection and an eagerness to stay involved in their lives. Family gatherings were a highlight for Heather, where her vibrant spirit and infectious laughter created lasting memories.

Heather and Emmanuel's journey together was characterized by their remarkable ability to blend two families into one cohesive unit. Their marriage was the cornerstone of their lives, and their shared commitment to family was evident in their efforts to unite all those they loved.

As a wife, Heather's role was defined by deep love and partnership with Emmanuel. Despite playful rumors that she may have been fired a time or two or that maybe she quit once a week as Emmanuel's business partner (we all know who the "real boss" was), Heather's steadfast support and belief in their shared dreams were a testament to her dedication.

As a mother, Heather was profoundly devoted. Her love for her children—Tamara, Sebastian, Ryder, Genesis, and Niko—was limitless. Each child held a special place in her heart and Heather's role as their mother was marked by a deep, unconditional love. Her ability to seamlessly blend and create such a loving family spoke volumes about her nurturing nature. No matter the situation, Heather's love was constant and ever-present in her children's lives.

Heather's faith and love for her Savior, Jesus Christ, were evident in every aspect of her life. She didn't merely speak about her faith; she lived it daily. Heather's actions and interactions reflected her deep relationship with Christ. She embodied what it means to be a faithful follower of Jesus, showing kindness, compassion, and grace in all her endeavors.

Her connection to her Church Unlimited family was a significant part of her life. Heather cherished her time with her church community, finding solace and strength in their shared faith. Her Pastor, Nick Indridson, was a guiding light and a source of comfort for her. The support and spiritual nourishment she received from her church family helped her navigate life's challenges and prepared her for her eternal journey with the Father in Heaven.

Heather's life was a tribute to living out her beliefs authentically and gracefully, impacting everyone fortunate enough to know her. Heather was a bright light to all who knew her—like actual sunshine in a bottle. Her life was a testament to love, laughter, and joy. She was always smiling, always optimistic, and always ready to lend a helping hand. In the simplest terms, Heather Lynn Martinez loved OUTLOUD every single day of her life, and her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those she touched. 

Heather was a radiant soul whose love and presence touched the lives of everyone around her. Her boundless affection, unwavering support, and joyful spirit profoundly impacted her family and friends. Though she is no longer with us, her family and friends will forever cherish her memory in our hearts. The ache in our hearts left by her absence is immense, and we will feel the pain of her loss profoundly. Yet, we find solace in knowing that Heather's legacy of love, faith, and kindness endures, and we hold onto the promise of reuniting with her one day in the embrace of Heaven. Until that day, we will carry her spirit with us, honoring her life through the love and joy she so freely gave.

Survived by her loving husband, Emmanuel Martinez, from Aransas Pass, Texas; sons: Sebastian Tuff Martinez, Ryder Cash Martinez and Nicholas Jai Martinez, all from Aransas Pass, Texas; daughters: Tamara Lynn Correa (Jose) from Corpus Christi, Texas and Genesis Arabella Martinez from Aransas Pass, Texas; father: Gerald Shedd from Aransas Pass, Texas; sisters: Amy Flood (Andy) from Port Aransas, Texas and Samantha Baccus from Forney, Texas; brother-in-law: Bric Baccus from Van, Texas; great-grandmother: Dora Ann (Brent) Ortega from Victoria, Texas. Mother and father-in-law: Miguel and Concepcion Martinez from Aransas Pass, Texas; sisters-in-law: Ludivina Diaz (Armando) and Isabel Flores (Jacob), all from Aransas Pass, Texas and Maribel Diaz (Rene) from Florida; nieces: Jocelyn (Kurtis) Null from Fulshear, Texas; Gracey and Julia Flood from Port Aransas, Texas; Marisa Diaz, Zoe and Ella Flores, all from Aransas Pass, TX; Presley, Sophi, and Davvi, Baccus from Van, Texas; nephews: AJ (Linda) Diaz and Nathanuel Diaz from Aransas Pass, TX; Stone Baccus from Van, Texas; great-niece: Darcy Gene Null from Fulshear, Texas; and too many aunts, uncles, and cousins to possibly count.

The Funeral Service will be celebrated Saturday, August 17, 2024, 10:30 AM at Church Unlimited, Rockport. Burial will be private.
