Irene Vargas, 80, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2026 leaving behind a family who loved her deeply and will miss her beyond words.

Irene was born on May 26, 1945 in Donna, Texas to Ricarda (Perez) and Camilo Alvarado.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Abel A. Vargas.

Irene leaves behind a legacy of love in her sons, Abel Vargas and Raphael Vargas; daughter, Sonia Vargas; grandchildren, Brooke Mayfield, Evan Vargas, Raphael Vargas; and great grandchild, Elijah Mayfield; along with extended family and friends who will forever hold her memory close.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2026 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home in Aransas Pass with the Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM that evening. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 27, 2026, 10:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Gregory. Burial will be private.
