Irma Vela Gonzales

Taft – Irma Vela Gonzales passed away August 16, 2023. She was 66.

Irma was born October 24, 1956 in Sebastian, Texas to Ofelia (Morales) and Juan Vela. She was formerly employed by Walmart as the assistant manager in automotive. Irma was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her infant son: Ruben Gonzales; granddaughter: Katelyn Villarreal; parents: Juan and Ofelia Vela; brothers: Ernest Vela, and Juan Vela, Jr.

Survivors include her husband: Ovidio Cruz; sons: Billy Cruz (Cathy) from Sinton, Texas and Brian Cruz (Regina) from Taft, Texas; daughters: Pristina Villalobos (John Albert) and Iris Nieto (Alfonso) both from Taft, Texas; 18 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers: Feliberto Vela (Estella) and Ramiro Vela (Maria) both Sebastian, Texas; sister: Rachel Vela from Divine, Texas and Ofelia Sanchez from Abilene, Texas.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 20, 2023, 5:00PM to 9:00PM, Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel in Sinton. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be the same evening, 7:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held Monday, August 21, 2023, 11:30 AM, Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Palms Memorial Garden, Portland, Texas.

Pallbearers will be: Billy Cruz, Brian Cruz, John Albert Villalobos, Alfonso Nieto, John Cantu and Ernest Vela, Jr.
