Taft – Ismael “Smiley” Aldape, Sr. passed away June 30, 2024.  He was 58.

Smiley was born in Taft, Texas to Eugenia (Salazar) and Bernardo G. Aldape, Sr. on June 13, 1966. He was a tattoo artist who also loved boxing. Smiley was a lifelong resident of Taft. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.

Preceding in death are a daughter: Maribel Aldape; parents: Eugenia and Bernardo Aldape, Sr.; and brother: Jose Angel Aldape.

Survivors include his wife: Alicia Lucio from Taft, Texas; sons: Ismael Aldape, Jr. and Meliton Rodriguez (Alexis Arriaga), all from Taft, Texas; daughters: Ann Gomez (Daniel) from College Station, Texas and Amber Ortiz (Eric Rodriguez) from Taft, Texas; 16 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; brothers: Bernardo Aldape, Jr. (Alicia) from Houston, Texas and Oscar Aldape, Sr. (Molly) from Aransas Pass, Texas; sisters: Sonia Aldape and Irma Aldape Garza, both from San Antonio, Texas, Enedelia Olivarez (Ismael) from Taft, Texas, Esmeralda Aldape Lopez (John Flores) from Sinton, Texas and Cynthia Bullock from Houston, Texas.

Visitation will begin Saturday, July 6, 2024, 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel, Sinton. The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be the same evening, 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
