Rockport – James Darrell Mayes passed away peacefully in his sleep after a long illness on October 19, 2024. He was 72 years old.
James was born in Rockport, Texas to Dorothy (Lawhonn) and Bruce Mayes. He enjoyed watching Gunsmoke, visiting with family and friends and telling people (solicited or not) how to do things, all with his best intentions. James was a loving brother, uncle, friend and faithful supervisor of projects who will be missed by all who knew him.
Preceded in death is his son: Justin James Mayes; parents: Bruce and Dorothy Mayes and brothers: Bruce Calvin, Gary, and Steve Mayes.
Survivors include his brother: Carl Mayes (Dottie) from Leslie, Arkansas; and sister: Carolyn Cox (+Willard) from Rockport, Texas.
