Jesse Rivera Cardenas

Taft – Jesse Rivera Cardenas passed away September 10, 2023. He was 88.

Jesse was born on June 26, 1935 in Seguin, Texas to Fernanda (Rivera) and Pedro Cardenas. He resided in Taft most of his life. Jesse was a retired carpenter who enjoyed spending his time being on the water fishing. He also loved to gather around his family and friends to cheer on the Dallas Cowboys, but nothing compared to him spending time with his grandchildren, being able to watch them play their sport activities. Jesse was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend who will missed by all who knew him.

Preceding in death is his loving wife: Fidelia Cardenas; daughter: Carmen Alvarado; son: Jesse Cardenas, Jr.; parents: Fernanda and Pedro Cardenas.

Survivors include his daughters: Mary Ann Vega (Joe), Dora Garcia (Raymond), Amanda Martinez all from Taft, Texas and Norma Ramirez (Michael) from Ennis, Texas; son: Robert Cardenas (Rita) from Portland, Texas; 16 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren.  

Visitation will begin Wednesday, September 13, 2023, 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel in Sinton. The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be recited the same evening, 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, September 14, 2023, 10:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Church, Taft. Burial will follow at Lamas Memorial Park Cemetery, Taft.

Pallbearers will be Gary Alvarado, Cipriano Alvardo, Eric Cardenas, Joseph Ramon, Jesse Rodriguez, Michael Guzman.
