Joe "Chupe" Garcia Obituary
Joe “Chupe” Garcia passed away peacefully on September 8, 2026 following a brief illness with his loving family by his side. He was 48.
Chupe was born on May 9, 1978, in Taft, Texas to Gloria (Cuellar) and Jose Garcia. He was a one-of-a-kind person who had a way of making everyone feel welcomed. Chupe truly never met a stranger. He was known for giving the best advice, lending a helping hand whenever someone needed it and being the kind of person you could always count on.
Chupe found joy in the simple things in life. He loved fishing, spending time with family and being surrounded by the people he loved. He had a special love for children and enjoyed watching them laugh and grow. Some of his favorite moments were spent gathered around a barbecue pit, sharing stories, visiting with family and simply enjoying the company of those around him.
A true jack of all trades, Chupe could fix just about anything. Whether working on a vehicle or building something with his own two hands, he was a talented mechanic and carpenter who was always willing to put his skills to work for someone else.
Chupe leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a legacy of kindness, laughter and love that will live on in all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his father, Jose Garcia; his maternal grandparents, Manuel and Pasquala Cuellar; paternal grandparents, Manuel and Micaela Garcia; and numerous aunts and uncles.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Joe Garcia (Ajia Villela) from San Antonio, Texas; daughters, Michaela Hernandez (Justin) from Kyle, Texas and Amberlyn Alaniz from Odem, Texas; granddaughter, Aria Garcia; his mother, Gloria Garcia from Odem, Texas; two beloved grandpups, Charlie Boy and Cooper; brother, Anthony Garcia from Corpus Christi, Texas; sisters, Norma Villalobos (David) and Patricia Lira (Armando), all from Odem, Texas; and Monica Garcia from Corpus Christi, Texas; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.
Visitation will be held Thursday, September 10, 2026, 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home in Sinton. The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 7:00 PM that evening at the funeral home.

Though his time with us was far too short, Chupe’s love, laughter, advice and helping hands will never be forgotten. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
