Aransas Pass – John Lionel Briley passed away on October 8, 2024. He was 90.
John was born in Opelousas, Louisiana on May 12, 1934 to Jeanne (Campbell) and Sidney Briley. John was a retired United States Army Veteran, upon discharge he went to TH Harris trade school and studied accounting. He was later hired on as the project manager in construction at Brown and Root where he would later retire.
John was an outstanding and top-notch human being who served for decades as an active member of the St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Church in Aransas Pass. He was an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus and very diligently served the Aransas Pass community through countless charity and fundraising events that provided young basketball players scholarship opportunities with continued education and college. He truly was a man of great character and integrity, and he profoundly impacted the lives of so many people on this earth in such meaningful ways that can never be forgotten. John was such a great blessing to his family and his compassion for people is one of so many exceptional qualities. He took joy in caring for others and spending all his quality time with family. He was a loving grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.
John is preceded in death by his parents: Sidney and Jeanne Briley; and siblings: Leroy, Jimmy, Wilber and Beverly Briley.
Survivors include his grandchildren: Nick Gillum from Rockport, Texas and Steven Franklin (Erika) from Kyle, Texas; great-grandchild: Trenton Franklin from Kyle, Texas; and brother: Floyd Briley from Louisiana;
