Rockport – John Kenneth Darnell passed away on November 11, 2024. He was 74.

John was born in Atlanta, Georgia on August 4, 1950 to Annie Lorrayne (Shirley) and James Harold Darnell, Sr. John was born in Atlanta, but moved to Dallas when he was five years old. John was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps, served during the Vietnam era and was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze star among other awards. He lived in the Philippines for 4 years with his family, where he faithfully attended church and grew to love the people and the country. John was currently a resident of Rockport. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Aransas Pass. John was dedicated to his God, country and family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, nephew and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

John is preceded in death by his parents: James H. Darnell,Sr.and Annie Lorrayne; his Marine best friend and brother in arms: LCPL Gilbert Padilla, sister: Barbara Morris; niece: Angie Morris and great niece: Kaylee Renee and brother-in-law: Rodel Fesarit.

Survivors include his loving spouse: Marife Darnell from Rockport, Texas; son: Jedidiah Fesarit from Rockport, Texas; grandchild: Killian Heatherson; brother: James Darnell (Jeanne Louise) from Athens, Texas; nieces: Laurie Catherine Morris from Plano, Texas, Kimberly Morris, Hannah Lawrence and Lori Wakeman both from Athens,Texas, Kaleigh Wakeman from Wichita Falls, Texas, Kelly "Darnell" Coats and Drea Darnell Coats both from Richardson, Texas; nephews: David Christopher Morris from Plano, Texas, Jaxon Lawrence and Gary Wakeman both from Athens,Texas and Paxton Wakeman from Whylie, Texas; great-nieces: Malia Christine Morris and Madeline Caroline Morris, both from Plano, Texas and Ashlynn Langston; aunt: Erlinda Gillespie from Fulton, Texas; uncles: Kenneth Gillespie from Port Aransas ,Texas and Rogito and Pablito Faderogao; mother-in-law: Dolorida Fesarit from the Philippines; sister-in-law: May Fallesgonfrom the Philippines; brother-in-laws: Jim Moriss from Plano, Texas, Roel Fesarit and Romeo Fesarit from the Philippines; canine companion: Scotty; and many extended family members and friends.

A visitation will be held on Monday, November 18, 2024, 3:00 PM – 9:00 PM at the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel, Aransas Pass, Texas. A Funeral Service will be held the same evening, 6:00 PM with Pastor John Hinton officiating. A Graveside Service will be held Thursday, November 21, 2024, 10:00 AM at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery, Corpus Christi, Texas.
