Jorge Javier Silvas

Taft-Jorge Javier Silvas passed away March 26, 2023. He was 26. Jorge was born on June 11, 1996 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Hortencia Silvas and Tony D. Silvas.

He grew up in Taft, Texas but formerly resided in San Antonio where he went to school for a short time before returning back to Taft. Jorge was a current employee at Steel Dynamics, he previously worked at the Coastal Bend Car Care in Portland and also at Whataburger in Taft. He was a kind and loving person. Jorge always helped those that needed him, he would make you a sandwich or buy you a burger if you were hungry. Jorge wasn’t married but was like a father to Angel and took him in as his own. Jorge was a beloved son, father, brother, uncle and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Maximino P. and Hortencia G. Valdez; paternal grandparents: Antonio G. and Josefina D. Silvas; paternal step-grandfather: Cirilio Moreno; aunt: Gloria V. Rodriguez; uncles: Pablo Valdez, Victor Valdez, Samuel G. Valdez and George Silvas; brother in-law: James Harrison.

Survivors include his parents: Tony and Hortencia Silvas; sister: Patricia J. Silvas; brother: Tony Silvas; nephew: Matthew James Harrison; girlfriend: Marissa Mendoza; son: Angel Maldonado.

Visitation will begin Thursday, April 6, 2023, 5:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel, Sinton. A Prayer Service will be held the same evening at 7:00 PM at the funeral home. A Graveside Service will be held Friday, April 7, 2023, 10:30 AM in Palms Memorial Gardens, Taft.
