Taft Texas – Jose Manuel “Joe” Gutierrez, age 73, passed away on July 10, 2025.

Joe Gutierrez was born on February 21, 1952, in Taft, Texas, to Zulema (Cantu) and Martin Gutierrez, Sr. He formerly resided in Las Vegas and was known for his warm heart and love for his family. Joe was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Joe found joy in the simple pleasures of life, including casinos, cigarettes, beer, and cooking. His love for these activities was a big part of who he was, and he cherished the time spent with loved ones. He will be remembered for his generosity, sense of humor, and dedication to his family.

Joe was preceded in death by his beloved wife: Guadalupe Gutierrez; his parents: Martin Sr. and Zulema Gutierrez; and his brothers: Robert, Santiago, Juan Martin, and Vidal Gutierrez.

He is survived by his sons: Angel, Salvador (Belinda), Rudy, Alex (Sylvia), Joe Jr., and another son, Alex. He also leaves behind his three daughters: Missy Martinez (Mingo), Liza Gutierrez, and Priscilla Uvalle (John). Joe is further survived by his brother: Daniel Gutierrez (Yvonne) from Ingleside, Texas; and his sisters: Margaret Sauceda and Cathy Martinez both from Taft, Texas. Joe also leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren that will carry on his memory and legacy

Visitation will begin Monday, July 14, 2025, 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM at the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel, Sinton. The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be the same evening, 7:00 PM at the funeral home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, July 15, 2025, 10:00 AM at the Immaculate Conception Church Taft, Texas. Burial will be private.
