Jose Ortiz Jr., born on September 22, 1955, in Aransas Pass, Texas, passed away surrounded by the love of his family on March 20, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of strength, service, and unwavering love.
In 1973, Jose proudly joined the United States Marines, where he specialized as an electrician. His time in the military reflected his dedication, discipline, and commitment to serving his country. After his military service, he made his home in Aransas Pass, Texas, where he worked as a shrimper—a profession that reflected his hardworking spirit and deep connection to coastal life.
Jose was known for his calm demeanor, generous heart, and willingness to always lend a helping hand. He was deeply loved by all who knew him and will be remembered for his quiet strength, kindness, and the love he had for his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Margaret Ortiz; son, Timothy Paul Ortiz; his brother, Richardo Ortiz; and his sisters, Frances Ortiz and Audelia “Della” Fuentes.
He is survived by his children: Jose Ortiz III, Jose Manuel Ortiz, Marcus Anthony Ortiz, Thomas Gabriel Ortiz, Felicia Margarita Lourdes Ortiz and Mario Moreno all from Aransas Pass, Texas. He also leaves behind his daughters-in-law; many beloved grandchildren; his brothers; Ramon Ortiz from Aransas Pass, Texas, Johnny Joe Ortiz (JoAnn) from Asherton, Texas, and his life partner, Lisa Parsons from Aransas Pass, Texas.
Visitation will be held Thursday, March 26, 2026, 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home in Aransas Pass. The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be the same evening, 7:00 PM at the funeral home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, March 27, 2026, 10:00 AM at St. Mary Star of the Sea, Aransas Pass.
Though he is no longer with us, we find comfort in knowing he is at peace and in the loving presence of the Lord.
