Jose "El Indio" M. Hinojosa

Taft – Jose “El Indio” M. Hinojosa passed away peacefully with his family at this side on July 30, 2020. He was 80.

Jose was born on January 9, 1940 in New Braunfels, Texas to Benito and Epimenia (Martinez) Hinojosa. He was a lifelong resident of Taft, Texas. Jose was a retired Pipefitter who had worked for Rockport Yacht, Baker Marine, Brown & Root, ATPM, Rincon and Aker Gulf Marine. He loved playing dice and tending to his garden. Jose was a loving husband, father, great-grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend who will be missed by everyone who knew him.

Jose is preceded in death by his wife: Carmen Hinojosa; granddaughter: Erica Monique Lucio; parents: Benito and Epimenia Hinojosa; brothers: Gregorio Hinojosa and Jesus Hinojosa; and sisters: Pauline Gutierrez and Mary Plata.

Survivors include 3 sons: Jose “Little Joe” Hinojosa (Jesusa) of Taft, Texas; David Hinojosa of Corpus Christi, Texas; Timothy Hinojosa (Georgia) of Valleyview, Texas; daughters: Cindy Hinojosa (Jesus Sosa) of Corpus Christi, Texas; Julie Hinojosa of Taft, Texas; 12 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; a great-grandchild on the way; sisters: Ramona Hinojosa Gutierrez of Aransas Pass, Texas; sister-in-law: Josefina Hinojosa of Taft, Texas; and numerous extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at 5:00 PM. The Funeral Service will Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at 10:00 AM at the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be private.
