Jose Lopez, Jr., affectionately known as "Joe" to his family and friends, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2026. He was 72.

A lifelong resident of Gregory, Texas, Joe was a Welder by trade for many years. He loved to fish, hunt, learn about space and look at the moon/stars with his telescope. Joe was also enjoyed gardening, barbequeing with friends and family, and seeing his grandchildren. He was happiest when playing with them. Joe was a hardworking and devoted husband, father and grandfather whose greatest joy was caring for his family. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, generous heart and unwavering love for those he held dear.

Joe is preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Stephanie Lopez; his parents, Jose Sr. and Guadalupe Lopez. three sisters; and two brothers.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Imelda Lopez from Gregory, Texas; his sons, Joey Lopez from Portland, Texas; Andy Lopez (Shelby) from Aransas Pass, Texas; and Jesse Lopez from Gregory, Texas; his cherished grandchildren, Diego Lopez, Leilani Lopez, Arianna Lopez, Brianna Lopez, Lane Lopez and Olivia Lopez; and one grandchild on the way. He is also survived by his sisters, Francis Neyra, Linda Kerr, Gloria White, Dora Torres, and Susie (O.B.); his brother-in-law, Pete Rodriguez; and numerous extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 13, 2026, at Resthaven Funeral Home in Aransas Pass. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM that evening at the funeral home.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at Immaculate Conception Church in Gregory. Interment will follow in Gregory Cemetery.

Joe's legacy of love, dedication, and quiet strength will live on through the family he cherished. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Joe's family would like to extend a heartfelt "thank you" to Dr. Jerome Lee Sang, MD, his staff and the caretakers of Harbor Hospice in Portland. The family will forever be grateful for the attention, love and compassion shown our beloved Husband and Father.
