Juan Jose Moreno, affectionately known as “Johnny,” passed away on January 4, 2026.

Johnny was born on February 18, 1959 in Taft, Texas to Rafael and Isabel (Rosales) Moreno. A lifelong resident of Taft, he was known as a hardworking, kind-hearted and generous man who was always willing to help others. Johnny was a self-employed gardener and took great pride in his work. He enjoyed traveling, especially trips to California and cherished time spent with family. He will always be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

Johnny is preceded in death by his parents, Rafael and Isabel Moreno, and his sister, Angelina Moreno.

He is survived by his sons: Johnny Moreno (Crystal), Jason Moreno and Jeff Moreno (Melinda), all from Corpus Christi, Texas; his daughters: Hope Hinojosa (Joe) from Taft, Texas; Sandy Calderon (Chris) from Corpus Christi, Texas; and Amy Moreno from San Antonio, Texas. He also leaves behind 21 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Additional survivors include his brothers, Rafael Moreno (Debra) from Houston, Texas and Rudy Moreno (Lupe) from  California; his sisters, Rosalinda Mendoza (Rolando), Yolanda Cruz and Gloria Cruz, all from  Taft, Texas; the mother of his children, Margie Martinez from San Antonio, Texas; as well as numerous extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026, at Resthaven Funeral Home in Sinton, with the family receiving guests beginning at 12:00 noon. The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will take place that evening at 6:00 PM at the funeral home. Services will conclude at 7:00 PM.

Burial will be held at a later date.
