In 2005, at 73 years old, she was Ordained into full-time ministry at South Shore Christian Church in Corpus Christi where she served as Associate Pastor. Leona and Roy moved to Odem, Texas in 2006, and in early 2007 she accepted the Lead Pastor position at Pettus Chistian Church in Pettus, Texas where she loved and led there, until her retirement in 2015. Even in retirement, Leona and Roy continued serving in Odem at both First United Methodist and First Baptist Church. After Roy went to Heaven in 2018 Leona moved to Frisco Texas.
