Leona Womack Corkill

Odem - Leona Womack Corkill stepped into Glory on Monday November 6, 2023, surrounded by Family.  She leaves a legacy of Love. Leona absolutely adored her family (5 generations strong). She demonstrated love in everything she did. Her greatest love of all was for her Savior, Jesus Christ. Leona devoted her entire life to shining His light to everyone she encountered.

Leona was born February 16, 1932 to Jennie Lee (Bethany) and Carl Nathan Womack. She was raised in Corpus Christi, TX. Leona met the Love of her life, Roy, in High School and married in 1949. She spent her early married years raising her children while serving in various areas at the Church(s) they attended. In 2005, at 73 years old, she was Ordained into full-time ministry at South Shore Christian Church in Corpus Christi where she served as Associate Pastor.  Leona and Roy moved to Odem, Texas in 2006, and in early 2007 she accepted the Lead Pastor position at Pettus Chistian Church in Pettus, Texas where she loved and led there, until her retirement in 2015. Even in retirement, Leona and Roy continued serving in Odem at both First United Methodist and First Baptist Church. After Roy went to Heaven in 2018 Leona moved to Frisco Texas.

Leona is preceded in death by her beloved husband of almost 70 years: Roy E. Corkill; parents: Jennie and Carl Womack; sister: Margaret Miculka; brothers: Carl Womack and Roy Womack; son-in-law: Joe Fleck.

Survivors include: daughters:  Linda Fleck and Laurie Phanco (Mark); son: Gary Corkill (Diana); grandchildren: Marce Bluntzer (Paul), Joe B. Fleck (Kim) Andrew Lawrence, Alexandria Corkill (Matt Morgan) Daniel Corkill (Karina), Melissa Roose (Tim), Mallory McCormick (Coby) Kurt King, Trevor King, Katrina Lopez (Hugo) ; 15 great-grandchildren:  McKenna (Chris), Zane, Braxton, Braydon, Kiersten, Konner, William, Nikolas, Lily, Olivia, Lucy, Landry, Everly & Cooper: great great-grandchild: Olsen.

The Funeral Service will be held Monday, November 13, 2023, 10:30 AM at the First United Methodist Church in Odem. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Odem.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at the Prestonwood Baptist Church, in the Faith Chapel, Plano, Texas.
