Taft – Lola Jane Bean Miller passed away July 25, 2025. She was 97.
Lola was born to Claude Everett Bean and Vernice Lee Stewart Bean. She was born at home in Three Rivers, Texas and attended grade school in Three Rivers until the family relocated to Aransas Pass in 1940. Lola graduated Aransas Pass High School in 1945.
After graduation, Lola began working for Central Power & Light Co. in Aransas Pass. In 1948, a position became available in the Taft office, where she transferred, working until 1963. Lola met a fellow newcomer, Coleman Miller in Taft. They married February 21, 1953 and made Taft their home.
Lola and Coleman enjoyed square dancing and later in life took up tennis. They played in many leagues and tournaments making lifelong friends. She enjoyed working in her yard and gardening, continuing these hobbies throughout her life.
Preceding in death are her parents: Claude and Vernice Bean; her husband: Coleman B. Miller; 2 sisters: Minnie Nell Bodemann and Ruth Ann Robertson.
Survivors include her children: Robert Alan Miller (Ann), David M. Miller (Jeanne) and Janet Carol Hicks (Paul); grandchildren: Stacy Decker (Lee), Monica Bogaards (Jeff), Max Miller, Lindsey Miller, Denise Hicks, Jennifer Hicks, Jessica Deal (Lane), Amanda Hicks; 10 great-grandchildren; and her very best friend, Bertha Lopez.
