Loreto Moreno Obituary

Loreto H. Moreno, known to many as Lore, passed away on March 20th, 2024.

Loreto was born on December 10, 1942, in Taft, Texas to Jose S. Moreno and Higinia H. Moreno.   He was a lifetime resident of Taft and graduated from Taft High School in 1962.

Upon graduation Loreto join the Air Force, where he was stationed in Utah and did tours of duty in Japan and Korea.  He served his country for four years.

Loreto worked for the Corpus Christi Army Depot from 1969-2001.  He was a member of the Machinist Union and served as a Union Steward for 3 years,

Loreto is preceded in death by his parents: Jose and Higinia Moreno; brothers: Carlos, Basilio and Ruben Moreno and his sister-in-law Lupe Moreno.

Loreto is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Delfina Flores Moreno; his three children: Robbie (Yadira) Moreno of Corpus Christi, Texas; Roland (Crystal) Moreno of Cedar Park, Tx, and Melissa (Arty) Moreno of Corpus Christi, Tx; his grandchildren R.J., Sean, and Jordan Moreno, Jake and Ava Moreno, Noah and Major Saldana. Loreto is also survived by his siblings:  Rodolfo Moreno from Portland, Tx., Angelica (Frank) Cuellar and Manuel (Odi) Moreno from Corpus Christi, Tx., Reynaldo Moreno, sisters-in-law Ida Moreno and Anita Moreno from Taft,Tx. and numerous in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Loreto was an active member of Immaculate Conception Church in Taft. He served as an altar boy in his younger years and later proudly served as a member of the Advisory Council for the church. He was active in the local community, serving as a Taft High School Board member for 10 years as well as president of the Taft Athletic Booster Club. He also served as Taft Little League President for 2 years; was a committee member for the Taft Boy Scouts and was a member of Concerned Citizens of Taft.

Loreto had a passion for all sports with his children. He was a great fan and avid supporter of the Taft Greyhound program as well as the Corpus Christi London Pirates, where his eldest son Robbie helmed the program.

Pallbearers will be grandsons; R.J. & Sean Moreno, his nephews, Rey Moreno Jr., Felix Flores Jr.

Eric Sturgeon, Michael Cuellar, Charlie Moreno, and Randy Moreno. Honorary Pallbearers will be his brothers, Rodolfo Moreno, Rey Moreno, Manuel Moreno.

Visitation will begin Tuesday, March 26, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel in Sinton. The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be recited the same evening, 7:00 PM at the funeral home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, March 27, 2024, 9:00 AM at the Immaculate Conception Church in Taft with Fr. John McKenzie as celebrant and Fr. Jose Gutierrez and con-celebrant.  Burial will follow, 11:00 AM at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery in Corpus Christi.
