Taft – Lucio "Chio"  Arjona Moreno, Sr. passed away peacefully on November 12, 2025, at the age of 94.

Lucio was born on December 13, 1930, in Taft, Texas, to Josefa (Arjona) and Jose Moreno, Sr. A devoted provider, he worked tirelessly throughout his life to support and guide his family. Though known for being strict with his children, Lucio’s heart softened with time, and he found great joy in cheering on his grandchildren in their athletic pursuits. He was also a familiar face at El Mexicano restaurant and made frequent stops at Stripes, places that brought him simple comfort and community. He also dedicated many years of service to the Taft community as a bus driver for Taft High School.

 He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Soveida Moreno; his son, Frankie Moreno, who passed away in 1977; and his sisters, Guadalupe Vasquez and Manuela Rosalez.

Left to cherish his memory are his children: Henry Moreno of Jarrell, Texas; Lucio Moreno, Jr. (Sue Ann) of Grand Rapids, Michigan; Jody Moreno (Olivia) of Taft, Texas; and Helen Gomez of Taft, Texas. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, his brothers Blas Moreno (Manuela) and Leonardo Moreno, both of Taft, Texas; and his sister, Juanita Hinojosa, also of Taft, Texas.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025, from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel in Sinton. A graveside service will follow at 1:30 PM at Lamas Memorial Park Cemetery.
