Sinton - Luis Manuel Almendarez passed away peacefully on April 6, 2026 leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter and unwavering devotion to his family. He was 70.
Born on October 4, 1955 in Mexico to Estella (Casarez) and Luis Almendarez Puente, Luis made his home in Sinton, Texas for most of his life. He was a proud father and a deeply devoted grandfather whose greatest joy came from the time he spent with his family—especially his beloved grandchildren, who meant the world to him.
Luis had a true passion for life. He loved sports and was a loyal fan of the Houston Texans (and the former Houston Oilers), the Houston Rockets and the San Antonio Spurs. Whether watching a game or talking sports with friends and family, his enthusiasm was contagious. He also gave back to his community by coaching little league, a role he embraced wholeheartedly so he could be present and supportive for his niece.
Those who knew Luis will remember his kind heart, warm smile and the way he made everyone feel welcomed. He had a gift for lighting up any room he entered. Family gatherings were his favorite, and he was often found on the dance floor—where his energy, rhythm and joy made him the best dance partner anyone could ask for. His love for music, celebration and togetherness created lasting memories for all who shared those moments with him.
Luis is preceded in death by his parents, Luis and Estella Almendarez; and his sister, Aurelia Almendarez McDonald.
He is lovingly remembered by his sons, Christopher Luis Almendarez (Sarah Muzingo) from Corpus Christi, Texas and Manuel Lee Almendarez (Michaela Faver-Almendarez) from Sinton, Texas; his cherished grandchildren, Marcelo and Felix Almendarez; his brother, Juan Frank Almendarez from Sinton, Texas; and his sisters, Ana Maria Casarez from Laredo, Texas, Teresa DeLuna (Frank) from Corpus Christi, Texas and Maria Almendarez from Lubbock, Texas; and numerous extended family members and dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel in Sinton, Texas. The family will begin receiving guests from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
