Lynton Garland Palmero was born July 23, 1926 to Simon Lynton Triggo and Myrtle Agnes Triggo in Pleasanton Texas.  His mother Myrtle died in childbirth and his father left him to be raised by his maternal grandmother, Edna Lee Cochran Palmero, along with his aunts Mabel and Ruth, and his uncle Bill. 

At 17, Lindy, as he preferred to be called, enlisted with parental permission in the Army-Air Force on August 10, 1943.  He was deployed to Palawan in the Philippines on January 22, 1945 as an airplane and engine mechanic.  He also achieved recognition as a carbine expert and pistol marksman.  He was promoted to sergeant and honorably discharged on November 29, 1946 with a commendation for good conduct, as well as WWII victory medal and Philippine Independence ribbon. He was proud to have served his country and always supported and thanked other veterans for their service.

He attended college on the GI bill at Sul Ross University in Alpine, Texas, where he met his future wife, Betsy Gertrude Grant.  They were married in a civil ceremony on August 13, 1947.  Their marriage lasted for 72 years until she was parted from him in death on November 11, 2019.

He subsequently graduated from Sul Ross with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry on August 23, 1949. After brief stints at other places, he went to work for Reynolds Metals in San Patricio, Texas, as a laboratory chemist.  He continued with them until the company went out of business, working as a security guard after he was laid off from the lab, and then went into early retirement, working other odd jobs till age 65.  He and Betsy raised 4 girls, Trudy Lynn, Natalee Ann, Linda Gay and Betsy Ruth, born in 1958, 1960, 1963 and 1964 respectively.  He and Betsy made their home for most of their lives in Corpus Christi, Texas, attending Grace Presbyterian Church where Lindy served as an ordained elder. They moved to Sinton Texas in 1977 and remained there for the rest of Betsy’s life.  In Sinton they were members of Sinton Presbyterian Church. Lindy remained in their Sinton home after Betsy’s death until March of 2025, when he moved into assisted living in Corpus Christi. 

He walked 3 of his four girls down the aisle and met 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.  Besides his wife, he is preceded in death by his oldest grandson Thomas Andrew Nutter and his daughter Linda Gay Palmero.  He is survived by his remaining three daughters, Trudy Nutter, Natalee Barnard and Ruthie Kirk, his grandchildren Natalee Nicole Nutter Hinton, Jennifer Lynette Kirk Redondo, and Timothy Grant Kirk, and his greatgrandchildren, Elijah Andrew Hinton, Graysen Alexander Hinton, and Aria Sophia Hinton. He just missed meeting his 4th grandchild, Soraya Nova Redondo, who is due to be delivered near what would have been his 100th birthday this year.

Lindy was a faithful Christian, a loving father and husband, and a social, witty individual with a lively sense of humor, a perennial smile, and a cheerful curiosity about everything.  He left us for heaven early in the morning of May 25, Memorial Day 2026. He will be missed!

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel in Sinton, Texas. Interment will follow at Sinton Cemetery.

The family warmly invites relatives and friends to join them for a reception and time of fellowship at Sinton Presbyterian Church following the interment.
