Mathis – Maria Yolanda Lopez passed away on August 1, 2024. She was 76.

Maria was born August 10, 1947 in George West, Texas to Sophia (Rodriguez) and Jesus Pena. She was a resident of Mathis, Texas for most of her life. Maria was formally employed as a Paraprofessional with Mathis ISD. Maria was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.

Preceding in death by her granddaughter: Juliana Lopez; parents: Jesus and Sofia Pena; sister: Virginia Pena; brother: Jessie Pena.

Survivors include her son: Joaquin Lopez (Elaine) from Sandia, Texas; daughter: Ledezma Rodriguez (Adrian) from Sinton, Texas; 6 grandchildren; Javier Lopez, Julian Lopez, Jacob Lopez, Angela Rodriguez, Adrian Joseph Rodriguez and Gabriel Rodriguez; sister: Delia Rosenbaum (Rogelio) from Beeville, Texas.

Visitation will begin Tuesday, August 6, 2024, 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel, Sinton. The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be the same evening, 7:00 PM at the funeral home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, August 7, 2024, 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Mathis. Burial will follow at Tom Mathis Cemetery.
