Macario "Mac" H. Cortez

Macario (Mac) H. Cortez was born in Taft, Texas on March 3, 1938. He passed away on November 23, 2022 at Christus Spohn Shoreline Hospital.

In 1965 he left the farm to pursue a job opportunity in the oil and gas industry. Mac was the owner of M. Cortez Contract Gauging & Consulting. He co-founded and co-owned SRM Consulting, Inc. and SRM Equipment, LC. Mac was a loving and supportive husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a faithful Christian, bible teacher, and preacher of God’s Word. 

He is survived by his wife of 62 years: Angelita (Angie) P. Cortez.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Juan C. Cortez and Genoveva H. Cortez; his sister: Sylveria Ramos and brothers: Ruben, Juan Jr., Nestor and Antonio Cortez; his great-grand daughter: Faith Ariana Cortez.

 He is survived by his children:

Son: Jim Cortez

Grandchildren: John David (Michelle) Cortez and Jana (Andrew) Lopez

Great grandchildren: Sierra Moreno, John David Cortez Jr., and Lorelai Lopez.

Son: Raymond (Anita) Cortez

Grandchildren: Christy (Enrique) Garza, Kim (Ernie) Martinez, Raymond (Patricia) Cortez Jr., Kaely Cortez

Great grandchildren: Nyla & Ariah Garza; Ernie III, Elena, & Raymond Martinez; Scarlett, Violet, and Emilia Cortez.

Son: Samuel (Rebecca) Cortez

Daughter:  Laura (Sergio) Perales

Grandchildren: Jacob & Jonah Perales

3 sisters: Estella Cortez, Santos (Felixciano) Reyes and Anita Chapa.

Visitation will begin Tuesday, November 29, 2022, 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM at Resthaven Funeral Home in Aransas Pass. The Funeral Service will be celebrated on the same day, Tuesday, November 29, 10:00 AM.  Burial will follow in Palms Memory Garden, Portland, Texas.
