Aransas Pass - Manuel Buentello Jr. was born October 13, 1962, in Corpus Christi, Texas to Manuel F. and Aurora Ybarra Buentello.  Manuel passed away Friday May 6, 2022. He was 59 years old.

Manuel was raised in Flour Bluff where he graduated high school in 1981. He attended Commonwealth College of Science in Houston, Texas and earned his Associates Degree in Mortuary Science and was a member of the Pi Sigma Eta National Morticians Fraternity. At the time he received his mortician licenses, he was the youngest dually licensed mortician in the State of Texas. Manuel married Linda Sue Wilson on January 19, 1984 and moved to Aransas Pass, Texas where they both went to work for Charlie Marshall Funeral Homes in Aransas Pass and Rockport, Texas. Later they moved back to Flour Bluff where they owned and operated Flour Bluff – Padre Isles Funeral Home. After the death of his wife Linda, he moved back to the Aransas Pass Area and continued to work for Charlie Marshall until the death of Mr. Marshall. Manuel then married Julie Ann (Ross) Ellis on March 13, 2010. Together they owned and operated “Buentello Professional Services”, an area mortuary service. Later, he joined the family at Resthaven Funeral Homes in Aransas Pass and Sinton, Texas where he remained until his passing.

Manuel served on many Boards of Directors, including, the South Texas Funeral Directors Association, the San Patricio Economic Development District, and a founding member of the Aransas Pass Municipal Development District, which built the Aransas Pass Aquatic Center and the Aransas Pass Civic Center, founding member of the Aransas Pass Memorial Commission which was responsible for the Seaman’s Memorial, the Aransas Pass Lion’s Club, the Aransas Pass Chamber of Commerce, the Flour Bluff Business Association where he served three terms as The President.

In 1995, Manuel was elected to the Aransas Pass City Council, where he served three terms and having served three of those years as Mayor Pro-Temp. He was also a state certified Eye Enucleator for the Texas Eye Bank. He was a devoted member of the North Bay Fellowship Church in Ingleside for many years.

 Manuel was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife: Linda Sue Buentello, and his second wife: Julie Ann Buentello. He is survived by his wife: Silvia Vazquez Alvarez de Buentello, his loving daughters and their husbands: Amy Lue Lyday (Nick) of LaBelle, Texas; Jessica Lynn Howell (Marcus) of Rockport, Texas; Samantha Lorraine Boughton (Robert) of Ingleside, Texas; Sarah Ann Waldron (Matt) of Corpus Christi, Texas; Maria Gutierrez Vazquez (Henry) of Aransas Pass, Texas. A sister and brother-in-law: Beatrice B. and Frank Evans of Flour Bluff, Texas. Ten grandchildren: Hayden Earl, Hadley Sue, Harris Manuel and Harper Lynne Lyday, Marcus Derek aka “Pork Chop” and Millie Lue “Lulue” Howell, Trey, Michael and Hudson Boughton and Llalia de la Barrera, along with several nieces and nephews.

Manuel will lie instate on May 10, 2022, from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm at Resthaven Funeral Home in Aransas Pass, Texas. A Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held the same evening, 7:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be May 11, 2022, at 10:00 am at the North Bay Fellowship Church, 3530 N. Main St., Ingleside, Texas. Interment will follow at San Ignacio Cemetery in Ingleside, Texas with a reception to follow at the church.

Pallbearers will be: Nick Lyday, Hayden Lyday, Marcus Howell, Robert Boughton, Trey Boughton, Matt Waldron, James Evans and Andrew Torres. Honorary pallbearers: Lee Hickel, Ron Limbaugh, Danny Salinas, Dick Dowell, Eddie Redmond, Michael Boughton, Derek Howell, Hadley Lyday, Frank Evans, Frank Baker, Michael Ross Jr. and Daryl Foster.
