Margarita Gomez Obituary

Margarita “Margie” Naranjo Gomez passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on the morning of April 22nd, 2026. In her final days on this earth, she was showered with all the love and prayers that she has given to so many others during her lifetime. She was a beacon of faith and strength throughout her courageous battle with cancer and has gone home to rejoin her all her loved ones in God’s care, especially her beloved husband, Ralph.

Margie was born in Kingsville, TX on March 7th, 1951, to Pedro and Simona Naranjo. She shared her childhood with nine brothers and sisters on their family farm in Riviera, TX. Growing up, she was a proud Seahawk Cheerleader and basketball player. She was also a lifelong writer and poet, composing many poems in her life for friends, family, and community leaders. She began working as a pipe x-ray tech for Kunie’s X-Ray Service not long after she graduated from Riviera High School in 1969. She enjoyed traveling all over Texas and especially enjoyed her time in Pecos, always reminiscing over the beautiful scenery and the ripe Pecos melons. During these travels, she met the love of her life, Ralph (Masa) Gomez, and the two married on April 21st, 1973. They started their life in Houston but eventually returned to Ralph’s hometown of Sinton, TX, where they raised their three children, Patricia, Christina, and Robert. Margie’s family enjoyed frequent trips to Grandma’s ranch in Riviera, ensuring her children grew up with all their aunts, uncles, and cousins in an environment of love and fun. Margie and Ralph were married for forty beautiful years before he passed away in 2013. Margie has missed her partner in life but continued to be the keystone of her family and enjoyed many wonderful years with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

For more than twenty years, Margie worked tirelessly as a caregiver for her brother-in-law, Raul Gomez, proving time and time again that she was willing to make sacrifices and provide for her loved ones without hesitation. She was always happy to help friends and family that were sick, elderly, or in need, making many a dinner for those who needed food, taking them to doctor’s appointments, visiting them in the hospital, or praying the rosary for those who had passed on. She was also a devoted daughter to her parents, especially her mother, Simona, who spent many of her final years in Margie’s loving care. She was close with her many nieces and nephews and was like a second mom to many friends of her children and young people in her community.

Margie was a strong Catholic woman who lived her faith. She was a proud parishioner of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Sinton and spent many, many years as a CCD teacher and helper. She was godmother to so many of God’s children over the years and was confirmation sponsor for countless more. She loved them all and never failed to remember their birthdays or congratulate them when they graduated. She helped organize the annual church festival, selling raffle tickets and organizing the ad sales for the poster. She also wrote the newspaper for the column for many years. She stayed active in her church as long as she could and was known and loved by so many of her church family.

Margie is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Gomez, her parents, Pedro and Simona Naranjo, and her brother, Reynaldo (Rey) Naranjo.

She is survived by her children, Patricia Ramirez, Christina Brubaker, and Robert (Hollie) Gomez; grandchildren, Gabriel (Myranda) Ramirez, Fernando (Anessa) Ramirez, Branson Brubaker, Sydney Brubaker, Antonio Gomez, and Aurora Gomez; Great-Grandchildren, Camden Ramirez, Aubrey Ramirez, Niko Ramirez, Kayleigh Martinez; her sisters, Erma Weed, Juanita (Janie) Cordero, Thelma (Tammy) Mcllwain; brothers, Joe Naranjo, Ruben (Kika) Naranjo, Pete (Tammy) Naranjo, Danny Naranjo, Tony (Sonia) Naranjo, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Gabriel Ramirez, Fernando Ramirez, Ely Reyna, Cody Cordero, Oscar Gonzalez, and Pedro Naranjo III; honorary pallbearers are Antonio Gomez, Camden Ramirez, and Niko Ramirez.
