Maria Adame Alvarez passed away peacefully March 27, 2025. She was 93.
Maria was born November 8, 1931 in Taft, Texas to Olivia (Galicia) and Pedro Adame. She was a lifelong resident of Taft. Maria formerly worked for Liberman’s Dept Store in Taft, Bealls in Portland and all three pharmacies in Taft. She was dedicated to taking care of her mother and father. Maria was a member of both the Immaculate Conception Church Guadalupanas and the Catholic Daughters of America. She was a loving wife, daughter and aunt. Maria will be missed by everyone who knew her.
Preceding in death are her parents: Pedro and Olivia Adame; step-son: Ricardo Alvarez; and siblings: Abel Adame, Sr (Refugia) and Adelaida Robledo (Manuel).
Survivors include her husband: Demetrio Alvarez from Taft, Texas; step-sons: Demetrio E. Alvarez, Jr (Julia), John Roy E. Alvarez (Alicia), Bernardo Alvarez and Ray Alvarez (Norma) all from Taft; step-daughter: Maria A. Salinas (Jose Luis) from Taft; numerous nieces and nephews: Abel Adame, Jr (Irma), Angel Riojas (Onofre), Delmi Gonzales, John Robledo (Mary) and Candie Garza (John).
Visitation will begin Thursday, April 3, 2025, 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel, Sinton. The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be the same evening, 6:00 PM at the funeral home. Visitation will continue Friday, 10:00 at the Immaculate Conception Church, Taft. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated following visitation on Friday, 12:00 PM at the church. Burial will follow in Lamas Memorial Park Cemetery, Taft.
