Maria C. Martinez

Taft– Maria C. Martinez passed away on May 12, 2023. She was 86.

Maria was born in Bloomington, Texas on July 28, 1936 to Luz (Gonzalez) and  Delfino Cuellar. She was a lifelong resident of Taft, Texas. Maria was a homemaker and previously worked for Holiday Inn. Maria was a Mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her husband: Juan C. Martinez; daughter: Rosario Mendez; 3 brothers; 5 sisters and her parents: Delfino and Luz Cuellar.

Survivors include her children: San Juanita Rodriguez from Corpus Christi, Texas, Israel C. Martinez (Maria) from Taft, Texas, Sylvia Criddle (Jim) from California, Margie Suarez (Rey) from Kingsville, Texas, Esmeralda Galindo (Manuel) from Taft, Texas, Norma Franklin (Donnie) from Cold Spring, Texas and Alicia Castillo (Jesse Hernandez) from Taft, Texas.

Pallbearers: Johnny Masquifelt, Jestin Flores, Adrian Hernandez, Andrew Naranjo, Manuel Galindo III and Robert Suarez.

Visitation will begin Wednesday, May 17, 2023, 5:00 PM- 9:00PM, at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel, Sinton. The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be the same evening, 7:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, May 18, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Taft. Graveside service will be Thursday, May 18, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Palms Memorial Garden Cemetery, Portland.
