Mark A. Branen Obituary
Corpus Christi - Mark Branen passed away on August 3rd 2024 he was 74 years old. He was a life-long resident of Corpus Christi.
Anyone who knew Mark loved him dearly. He had a kind heart and always treated people with dignity & respect. Mark was a very loyal person and took his responsibilities in the congregation, at home & at work seriously. He was someone you could always count on, no matter what. If there was a need, he was there to fill it. Mark was always active. Mentally by being an avid reader. Physically by playing basketball & riding his bike. As Mark aged, he changed up the activities to walking, swimming, gardening, working in the yard & running around Sprouts Farmers market helping customers find the vitamins they needed. Mark had a photographic memory. He could remember almost everything in detail. If you wanted to know something about his family tree, he could tell you. It was funny that he resisted technology for a long time. No computer, no smart phone, no internet. However, not too long ago, he finally decided to trade in his old flip phone for a smart phone:) . . . which he loved when he realized that the internet existed, the wealth of information he could gain & that he could have his favorite music at his finger-tips. Mark held dear the hope that God’s Kingdom promises. The promise of the resurrection and everlasting life on a paradise earth. Psalm 37:29 says, “The righteous will possess the earth, and they will live forever on it”. It brings us all comfort to know that Mark is safe in Jehovah’s memory until that time. For the rest of us who must deal with his loss, the following scriptures can bring all of us comfort. We feel his loss as Romans 9:2 says, “that I have great grief and unceasing pain in my heart.” How all of us yearn for the time spoken of in John 16:22 which tells us “So you also, now you have grief; but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.” Until then we can focus on the time when we can see Mark again here on the Earth and how joyful it will be. Just as this scripture says, we will experience so much joy, a joy that no one can take away.
Mark is survived by his sister: Kathy Rose; niece: Amy (Darin) O’Neill; nephew: John Lee (Rebecca) Honeycutt; along with Sean (Darby & Sutton) O’Neill & Connor O’Neill, Alaina Honeycutt, Taylor Honeycutt, Jayden Honeycutt, Branen Honeycutt, Tyler Honeycutt & Keira Honeycutt.
